This White Ribbon Day, on 25th November, Somerset Council joins the international campaign to end violence against women and girls.

Recognised globally, White Ribbon Day focuses on engaging men and boys to take a stand against gender-based violence, creating a world where everyone feels safe and respected.

A spokesperson from Somerset Council said: “At Somerset Council, we are committed to creating a safer and more equitable society for everyone. Supporting White Ribbon Day gives us the opportunity to encourage men and boys to step up and play an active role in ending violence against women and girls. Together, we can create lasting change by fostering respect, allyship, and accountability in our communities.”

Become a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion

As part of our commitment, we encourage everyone to explore opportunities to become a White Ribbon Ambassador or Champion.

  • Ambassadors: Men and those identifying as men who actively share the White Ribbon message in their workplaces, communities, and social circles.
  • Champions: Women and individuals who do not identify as men, working to amplify the White Ribbon message and challenge men to get involved while ensuring women’s voices are central to this work.
